I am thinking of buying a blackpowder revolver. How difficult are they to load and maintain? Thanks

First thing - they are FUN!
Loading is somewhat tedious, but hey, thats how they did it in the 'good 'ol days'. Make sure you use a wad behind the ball and paste some crisco (yes you read right!) over the loaded chamber to prevent chain fire (more than one chamber firing out of battery).
Cleanup is made MUCH easier by using Pyrodex rather than FFFg. Use boiling hot water with some soap, and the fouling will practically come out on its own. Dry and oil afterwards.
You might want to look into the line of products Traditions puts out - they are fairly inexpensive and well made. This way you won't be out alot of money up front.
Have a good time!

I used to use Crisco but now I use cream of wheat behind the ball. Got the suggestion from some old timers. It eliminates the chance of chain fire(which should scare the hell out of anybody), and it makes a compressed load giving a more accurate shot.
Uberti Walker 44cal ..one big honking hog-leg but man is it fun. Just make sure you keep your mouth shut if you shoot into the wind.
