it sounds like you have a 1898 krag rifle,,not a springfield rifle ,,although it may have been made by springfield and have a simular look as a springfield it's gotta be a krag with that date..heres something to think about ,,there were 5000 krag carbines made in a model 1898 +1899 they are very sought after ,,and would have a half stock with a 22" barrel,,and your serial number falls into the serial number range to be possibly a carbine 118,000-134,000 so be cautious if it's just a half stocked rifle that looks kinda sporterized,,if it's a carbine model the value could be as much as 2000 if very good,,so check it out before you let anybody do anything on it ,,,
,,,it it's got a long 29" barrel it is proably a rifle model that was sporterized ,,a restoration project could be costly depending on whats missing,,a good corret military stock might run 150-200 and then theres the metal parts it might be missing and the bands and swivels and handguard might run another 50-100 bucks,,so i'd say you might have possibly 300-450 in a restoration job and possibly more depending on the condition the parts are in and if you can find the parts to start with..can ya post a overall pic of the rifle so i can see if it might be a carbine and i might be able to get an idea of what you would need to restore it better ,,
