Well, I happened to have a customer who lived down the street from my favorite sportsman's store. Decided to buy some 7mm Mauser ammunition, I did have a 7mm Mauser afterall. Problem is, when I attempted to chamber the round, the backend of the shell was a little large, it wouldn't slide inside of the retaining clip on the bolt, nor would it slide into the barrel, it would just get stuck pointing upwards., and it seemed a little too long when I tried loading it into the built-in "magazine"?. Is it possible that this rifle does not in fact take a 7mmx57 but a 7mm-08 instead?

I've been meaning to take it to a gunsmith to verify the caliber, etc.. just haven't had a chance. I mean hey, i'm posting at 10:11pm, .

Anyone have this problem?

hi dan,
it probly has been rebarreled and a gunsmith is the only way to determine what caliber rifle you have. JMHO
