Anybody know if there's a group for airguns, specifically for hunting?

You should not use a airgun to hunt.

Okay I'll cop to it,when we were kids we knocked off our share of finches and sparrows but wouldn't call that actual hunting, more like mischief.

I've heard some high end air guns are capable of pretty high velocity and at close range with the right projectile could probably take down a squirrel or rabbet.I guess any air gun NG would roust up some would-be hunters...

There are many airguns retailed in the US that are suitable for vermin and small game hunting. If you're stuck in one of those places that has power limits on air arms, you may be right, but only for your limited area.

The OP might look on his local newstand for several British magazines on air guns and hunting with them, plus there's a new US one called Airgun Illustrated that has been very good for the couple of issues I have. See http://www.airgunillustrated.com/static/ airgunillustrated_Enter.html

Why? - some airguns are powerful enough for killing elk, wild pigs, deer, etc.

See http://www.connext.net/~daq/hunting.html for some examples.

As long as I've hunted, I've never seen or heard of an airgun hunter's license!
