About The Team

We are a small team moderating Gun Values Board. Gun Values Board is all about knowledge, sharing and fun. It started on 2006 as a meeting place to help enthusiastic people like us and since then it's evolving.

While not surfing around here each of us also have a personal life ;-)

I am geologist in the Petroleum Industry and absolutely love it. It is a challenging treasure hunt of a job that has allowed me and my family to have a wonderful life. My interest/hobbies are my passions in life. My wife would tell you I do nothing half way. It is total immersion into something. Antique Winchester rifles is one of the interests that has had my attention for a while. This year I have picked up 15 rifles for the collection. I also fly fish year round in fresh and saltwater. From Alaska to Mexico. It is the most challenging way to fish. I bow hunt for hogs and the occasional deer on my ranch. No cattle on it. Run it as a Wildlife Managed property. My wife and I love to ballroom dance. Instead of sitting in a chair I am one of those guys actually out on the dance floor. Wasn't always that way but it's a lot more fun out there. Given the chance we enjoy having a dozen people over to the house and letting me cook dinner. Italian food is my favorite along with wild game that people actually enjoy eating. It has been a treat t obe invited to participate in the forum. I try my best to give well founded input and hopefully educate our audiece along the way. Take care 2bit

I started gunsmithing in 1973, before I was out of high school.Bought every book I could find on the subject, read & re-read them many times.Bought my first gun, from a local hardware store, it was a Sears model 200 12 gauge with a 30" plain barrel , which was made by Winchester ( Model 1200 pump).I was out hunting pheasants, in the rain, & put my shotgun away wet in the gun case. The next week I opened it up ,and rust was everywhere on my gun. Thus starting my new career as a what-to-be gunsmith. Learning from my mistakes, and from some back yard gunsmiths, I pursued my career further, wanting to be one of the best. At the ripe age of 20, I started refinishing, shotguns, rifles, & sidearms. Rebuilding them for an extra income.(at this time I was only making $3.75 an hour). I could go on & on , that's what I do, but I will try to post other things,on my blog. Thanks for reading, questions are always welcome........Joe

Mostly pre-1898 firearms but also early century 22 rifles. Firearm values are determined by Condition, Condition, Condition, and Condition, please include that in your question as well as the Manufacture and model, if you don't know the model describe it as best as possible including if it's a pisol, rifle, shotgun, pump, auto, revolver (wheel gun), all details and writings found. Condition includes how much Bluing, nickel, or whatever finish as well as the condition of the wood, grips, as regards to varnish, dents, chips, scratches, or cracks. There is never TOO much information and the better the description the better the evaluation can be done. For Date of Manufacture: With everything else as mention above also include ANY markings/letters and Serial no if it exists. Without this only a range of years manufactured is possible. NEW - unused, same condition as factory production, 100% UNISSUED / LIKE NEW - unused, but may not have box or factory accessories. May have been sold at retail before, but never used. Unissued surplus guns are unused, but are still often several decades old, and thus may sometimes show small handling marks. 99-100% USED BUT IN LIKE NEW CONDITION - may have been used slightly, but shows no wear, perfect condition. Modern guns = 99-100% EXCELLENT - may show slight use, no easily apparent marrs or defects, minimal bluing wear, mainly slight at edges and muzzle, little to no scratches. Shiny bore. Modern guns = 90-99%, Old guns = 80-99% VERY GOOD PLUS - shows slight wear, only minor defects or dings / scratches. Nice looking bluing but worn at edges and muzzle. Modern guns = 85-90%, Old guns = 70-80% VERY GOOD - Everything works, some wear on finish and working surfaces, no corrosion, but maybe some light freckling. Could have minor dents and scratches. Bore may not be shiny but should not be dark. Modern guns = 70-85%, Old guns = 60-70% GOOD - Working condition, but finish may be quite worn from sustained use or carry. Wear on working surfaces. Could have some pitting or light corrosion / freckling, and dings or scratches, but they should not interfere with function. May have dark, worn bore. This is the usual condition that surplus guns are graded. Modern guns = 50-70%, Old guns = 30-60% FAIR - Still considered working usually, though minor adjustment may be needed Well-worn finish, perhaps no finish left. May have corrosion or pitting that does not render gun unusable. Bore may be shot smooth and be dark. Wood may have cracks but is usually still usable. Modern guns = 20-50%, Old guns = 1-30% POOR - Adjustment or replacements of parts need, may not be functioning. Worn out or rusty, sold for parts or for repair only, no returns "GUNSMITH SPECIAL" - These guns are broken or missing parts, and need to be repaired and checked by a gunsmith before using, however they are not necessarily in worn condition, and though not-functioning, they may sometimes be in very nice condition. Typically no returns when sold.

I'm in my mid thirties, married with the sweetest ever daughter. I like sport and computers, which is what I do mostly on my spare time. In here I'm in charge of the technology stuff making the things work behind the scenes. I strive to make this site as useful, helpful and usable as much as possible, so if you have any feedback about it, I'd be more than happy to hear it - you can post it on the Site Feedback section.

I am a woman living in Israel. A friend started this forum and got swamped with work so, knowing I am interested in this subject, he asked me to keep an eye on it. My other hobbies are walking, photography and meditating near the sea.

I am in my early 40's, the mother of two fantastic toddlers. For my adult time and a bit of sanity, I spend my time doing a bunch stuff behind the scenes on this site ;-0 I am basically a hedonist, so good food, good drink and good times are high on my list. My favorite quote is 'god is in the details' (Mies van der Rohe)

I'm a woman, just starting my 40's. I live in Israel. I raise 3 gorgeous daughters, a cat and a beautiful garden. I work part time as a gardener and find interest in many other fields. I have found this site almost by chance and decided I'd try to lend a hand.
