A 1876 Winchester, 45-60, S # 185XX just came my way. Belonged to a friend whose grandfather had it over the fireplace.

Pictures at: http://s602.photobucket.com/albums/tt107/cet1921/? newest=1

Where would I go to find a fair selling price. Am not keeping.

Thanks,

rotdog308,

There were only 63,871 Model 1876 rifles produced by Winchester. They were offered in four different calibers .45-75 WCF, .45-60 WCF, .40-60 WCF, and .50-95 Express. Because they are relatively rare they can command pretty hefty prices. The rifle certainly looks to be all original - a plus. This rifle looks pretty "brown" which isn't real bad. Better than all the finished sanded off the metal. There appears to be a crack in the stock which is a big booboo. The bore looks dark, maybe just needs lots of patches run through it. Could you post some clear close ups, taken ooutside in the shade with no flash, of both sides of the barrel and the fore end and we can get closer to a value for you.

Thanks
