I recently bought my father-in-law's 870 Wingmaster, and it is in brand new condition for a 30+ y/o shotgun. It has a 30" full choke barrel, and I want an 18 1/2" cyl bore barrel. Is there anyone or anywhere I can check for a trade? Or any good sites for a reasonable purchase? Thanks for the help.

if i were you i'd check some sites online like gunbroker.com or possibly sportsmans warehouse,,cheaperthandirt,,ect..and just try and buy a 18-20" barrel,,i'd keep the 30" so if somewhere down the road you deceide to sell or just want a good hunting shotgun,,try a search for 870 barrels and you should turn up alot of people and sites selling barrels,,a barrel like your looking for should cost you around 100-125 and if there are any gunshows in your aera i'd look there first..and iof your set on selling the 30" then take it along and you might find someons there that will do a trade with you..also look on some of the forums with want to sell or want to trade listings and possibly post a want to trade if you really don't think you'll ever use the 30",,another possibility is to cut the original barrel down to the lenght you want,,but be sure you cut it to the legal lenght,,once it's cut it will be a cyl bore because the only place thats actually choked in the last 4 or so inches,,that would be the cheapest way to go.. but the barrel will no longer be original,,the fixed choke barrels are ok for hunting but theres not alot of demand for them these days with the interchangable barrels available nowadays,,but if someone wants an original 30" barrel for a wingmaster they would have some intrest in it,,value for your 30" would be proably be between 60-100 if you sell it or trade it but really not much more..let me check with a gunshop i frequent.. he may have something down there thats been shortened already and the price would be pretty cheap i would imagine
