38 S&W police special

I have this gun and would like a value or sale value, the serial # is 200999 and was last used in 1976 used 17 years before that date

hello,,the s&w oficial police models were a regulation side arm for many years for many PD's and i'll guess it's proably a md 10 military and police model,,values for it would be between 200 good to around 500 exc,,if PD marked it could raise the value some to someone from the pd's aera that wants something aera collectable ,,alot of these old pistols were traded in when the PD's went to the semi auto handguns and the market was flooded with them,,i remember seeing police trade in's in shotgun news both colts and s&w's and even ruger's in the 200-300 range within the past 10 years ,,and still see J&G's selling police trade in pistols in current issues of SGN ,,but now days tehre used glocks and sigs,,the day of the pd carring revolvers are long gone i guess!
