I have a 300 Savage, Model 1899, SN 81630. I was told the serial number sets the Manufacture date at 1908. It appears to have the original finish, it looks good, no scope holes drilled, it shoots staight, and functions perfectly. But, someone rechambered this for a 300/444 Marlin wildcat round and restamped the barrel "300/444". The place that reloaded this ammo for me is gone and no one else ever heard of it. I was considering replacing the barrel to get this back to 300 Savage. I really like this gun, but I think I should try and get some idea of its worth first. Do you know it's aproximate value? Do you know it's aprox value with the barrel replaced to fire 300 Savage again? Anyone have a better idea how I can keep this gun useable? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank You,

CurtB
