krags are very good investements right now ,,it seems as though alot of people are buying them up and prices have rizen in the past 5-10 years sometimes 3 fold ,,when i see a krag i never see one for less 750-1000+ at gun shows or for sale online,,when they come in as cheap as the one your looking at snach it up!!
..Krags were used during the spanish american war post the civil war years,,Teddy Rosevelts rough riders were equipped with Krag carbines ,,and there is a serial number range for the rough riders guns ..they used them up until the 1903 springfield came into service and even thereafter is some situations ,,
,,carbine models are the better versions over the rifles ,,but both demand the above prices for average guns,,anytime your looking at military rifles always look for markings !!proof marks ,,inspectors initials,,fireing proofs ,,arsenal markings ,,ect will always raise the collectors eyebrows,,and make them give it another look,,
...don't let anyone tell you theres no intrest in military firearms,,theres actually more c+r collectors collecting vintage military rifles and pistol right now that people would beleive !! so to answere your question about if it's a good deal ,,HELL YEA!!! buy both of them and you will either make at least double your money or be pleasently surprised at what they bring at a good auction!!
..ONE THING TO BE AWARE OF ->krag rifle will be typically cutdown and sporterized or made to look like carbines ,,it can be hard to spot a fake carbine unless you have serial number ranges per year, and know what your looking at or for ,but also remember there are a few variations of the old krags out there that will bring over 2500,,and this might be one of them ..or it could be a run of the mill krag worth 750.. i think thats a good price to pay these days for that kinda scrap!
