I am very curious to know if .22 short shells can be fired out of a .22 long rifle? If you have any idea let me know. Thanks

hi hunter,
you can shoot 22 shorts out of any rifle that will shoot 22 lr, but only as a single shot.

hi dan,
yes, just one at a time. your 10-22 is a blow back action, the 22 short doesn't have enough emppfff to cycle the next cartridge.

I just bought a savage mark II bolt action .22 lr it has a 10 round clip and I loaded the clip with .22 shorts. believe it or not they chamber great. I can rip through 10 rounds of shorts just as fast as LRs. great for neighborhood squirrels eating my garden. noone hears a thing. technically its illegal to discharge a firearm in city limits, but use some common sense and think safety at all times and youll be ok.

hey i have a winchester 22lr model 190 simi auto and i just picked up some 22 short ammo by mistake. i loaded it up single shot like you said kim and it worked just fine. so next i tried 2, again worked fine. just loaded up 13 and it was just like i was firing lr rounds. everything went smoothly. happy shooting
