I received a springfield .22 cal. target rifle around 1960 from my father, who purchased it from the armory at ft. lewis, Wa. through the nra. It was manufactured in 1938 for the army. perhaps by stevens arms. it has a 5 shot clip, o.d. barrel, nickel bolt , walnut stock, and a 4 digit serial number.the sights are micrometer rear and hooded front.I'm looking for some history and perhaps collector value

BigCurt...........I shot competition with it as a kid. We had an nra sanctioned rifle club that my dad organized in the 60's .Many patches and medals on my shooting jacket later.........too bad it doesn't fit any longer. I probably weighed 140 # then, now almost 50 yrs. later, much more...........
Thanks, jeff
