I just won the 2009 NRA Gun of the Year Matched Set of Ruger Vaquero .45 Long Colt Revolver's. (1 of 1125) ... 5-1/2" blued barrels, gold roll marks, color case finish on frames and Houge simulated ivory grips. Came with hard plastic case and all paperwork, unfired... what would the approximate value be? And how much would the value decrease if I went out and fired some rounds through em? Thanks!!

hi kutenai,
your best bet would be to contact ruger and get a quote from them. value is going to decrease considerably over the long run if you fire it, and if it's kept new in box the value going to increase be the same amount. JMHO

We just had our FNRA banquet her in MO. The Vaquero set sold for $3150 It was number 110 (I think). I though it was a lot, but from looking at the internet it seems this is in line. I saw on rugerforum.com #2xx sold for $3k snd there is an auction on gunbroker for the #10 matched set. Those are $3450 on the auction. If only I could afford them! My friend also said at their banquet the set sold for around $2500 and he thought it was in the 500 range. I would recommend not shooting your pair if you can help it!!

Thanks for the thread. I have the same problem, I just won the same guns #220 ( and three more guns). The dinner was lightly attended and I was the luckiest SOB on the planet for 3 hours Friday night. When I won them my first thought was SOLD, I had already won two guns and have never liked revolvers. Then I made the mistake of picking them up. These guns feel great in the hand and beg to be shot. I've been looking at two gun rigs ever since. But it seems they are real collectors items. I'm going to have to put a lock on the box, give my wife the key and work on my self control.

We won set #1 of these in September 2009.
I am assuming this set may be worth more due to being #1.
Are you still interested in the NRA
