I just bought a 12 gauge Remington 870 Wingmaster at a local gunsmiths. I just had it dated and found out it was made in 1951 (first production year). This came as a nice shock. Not that I want to sell, but does a 1951 870 Wingmaster in A- condition hold any additional value?

Thanks

I don't know, no one answered. But the gun worked great this season. Lived up to its name.

hello,,i don't think it's gonna be much over one made in 1971,,there bringing around 250-325 in my neck of the woods,,it's nice to have a first year production model but many time the first year may have been the year most of the problems were in and as the production went on they improved the flaws ,,not saying there were problems with the 870 but sometimes new models come with new problems ,,if it was the first 100 or lower that would /could increase the value a little but i really don't think a first year remington 870 pump would be a highly sought after item just because it was made in the say the first 100,000 guns made at this time in it's history,,the value is in the reputation over the serial number ..
just my opinion though,,

Well said bigcurt. I tend to agree. It does give the gun a bit of story though, which I enjoy.
Best,
