Are you sure it is a model 1895? These are not my strong suit in Winchesters but I do not believe they were offered in .38-55 caliber. I have seen some that have a half octagon and half round barrel but never a full octagon barrel. But it certainly could exist. The photo is a Model 1895 with its very distinctive "box magazine". This was developed so that pointed bullets could be loaded and not have the point resting on the primer of the round in front of it as it is in a tube magazine rifle.
