hello,, that is a low serial number and very collectable and made in 1892,,the condition is proably better to a collector than you see it,,collectors look at originallity first and most want to see guns with use because for a gun thats over 100yrs old it's not suppose to look new ,,if it did and haden't been refinished it could bring 5000,,but your mother in laws should be AT LEAST 700-1000 and i'd say that would be in fair condition to a collector or at auction, for the standard grade model,,they also had a fancy grade model with special features like a pistol grip stock and checkering,,these models will bring double the prices quoted +,to get a better idea of condition grading go over to gunbrokers.com and do a search for model 92 winchester and see how other dealers grade theres ,,condition wise ,,and compare your to theres ,,if you don't get ant hits with model 92 winchester try just 92 winchester or winchester 92,,one of those phrases should get you some to campare to,,if she want to sell hers this site would be the best auction site out there and you could list it for her there ,,you'd need an account and a good digital camera with good clear pictures ,,i've listed many guns for a gunshop i work part time for and pictures are keys ,,thery don't charge extra for more pics and you can and i usually do use at least 10-20 pics of everything i see important,,ie markings ,,stock pics ,sites ,,ect,,the early 92's i beleive are antique elidigable and can be sent to a private individual with a signed antique statement from them and a copy of a current drivers licence,,i can give you details on how the antique statement should be written if you want ,,drop me a pm and i'll explain in detail ,,boxes can be purchased from ups..there golf club box works well for longuns,,for packing material i use alot of newspaper and over pack till it doesn't move around when shaken,,the buyer always pays for shipping anyway and a fixed price is the best way to go there ,,shipping can be done thru the p/o or one of the carrieres such as fed-ex or ups,,if you need any pointers on selling online i can help ya with that ,,
